Now I know that this is a little out of season for us Utahns, but I wanted to blog about it as soon as I found out about it!
FREE FRUIT! We all love fresh fruit and it is so healthy for us! But in the grocery store, these sweet treats can really add up. So how do we get it for free!

This website is awesome! You create a log-in, enter your region and how far you are willing to go get your free fruit. And wah-lah, they list off the places that are giving away their fruit! These are usually people who have fruit trees in their yards and have more than they can handle, or farms that have extras or the fruit might have small cosmetic flaws.

So stop buying your fruit at the grocery store! Get it free and get it straight from the tree/bush/whatever!

(Obviously, it is February and you may not be able to find too much fruit right now. But as it warms up, you'd be surprised how much free fruit you get. And get a lot! Learn to can and make jam. They make great gifts and, best of all, FREE)

"They Say it's Your Birthday..."

So yesterday was my birthday. If you missed it, don't worry, gifts and all major credit cards still accepted. Anyway, I decided to see if the fact that it was my birthday would get me anything free. Well, IT DID! Of course we got a free dessert where we went to dinner, but everyone does that. Before I went to work, I stopped into a cupcake place. I simply told them that it was my birthday and asked if they did a "happy birthday cupcake." They told me that they haven't really done that before, but they ended up giving me one anyway! Cool huh?! I would have stopped at more places, but I was running late for work. So when your birthday rolls around, milk it! Go to flower shops and ask if they do a "happy birthday rose" or go to a bakery and do what I did. If they say no, who cares! But a lot of places usually want to be nice and they'll hook you up!

I know that it's a lot of people's new years resolution are to save money or start a budget (or things like that.) Well this is perfect! mint.com is a website that works as a free personal financial planner. First go and create an account (It's free, duh!) you enter in all your different bank accounts, assets, credit cards, etc. Then Whah Lah! It tracks your spending, helps you organize your money, allows you to see all of your accounts at once even if they are at different banks, it organizes your assets and liabilities, it even organizes your spending into a pie chart so you can see how much of your money is going where. It's awesome! My husband and I just set our account up. He is really excited because he was an economics major and he is really interested in finance. This free program makes it so easy for him to track everything and also see what our assets and liabilities are so we can see what we can afford to invest in and things like that. GO check it out!

Back on track!

OK I'm getting back on track and I'm going to post at least every other day, I promise. So here is today's freebie.....
Craigslist!!!!!!!!!!!!
Basically all I did was go to saltlakecity.craigslist.org
I left the search box empty and in the "in:" box I put "free stuff"
It pulled up all this stuff that people are giving away for free!
As we all know, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
But it's not all junk that no one wants. There were quite a few ads for packing boxes and packaging paper. If you've ever moved, you know how great this stuff is and how expensive and annoying to it is to buy it!
Other ads were for foosball tables, christmas trees, and more. Most people just want you to come pick it up. So grab a friend and a truck and go get this free stuff that these people were gonna give to the DI anyway!

Freebie of the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aloha Baby!!!!!!!! We just booked our flight for our FREE trip to Hawaii! Yes your read me right, FREE TRIP TO HAWAII! Now I know that most of you are thinking that this is something you have to win the "Showcase Showdown" on the Price is Right to be able to get. But, NO! All you have to do is take advantage of rewards points on credit cards. Now, beware.... I am NOT saying that you need to rack up huge credit card debt to do this. Actually, we did the exact opposite. We got a rewards credit card that didn't have fees so that it really is FREE. Then we decided that our goal was to earn enough points to take a trip to Hawaii since neither of us had been there. We ALAWAYS pay off our credit cards every month, so we didn't have to worry about paying interest or getting fees. And....Whah-lah! FREE TRIP TO HAWAII! Our flight and accomodations are taken care of! So if you have will power and can pay your credit card off every month, you should do this. We have had the card less than a year and we've already got enough points. We just put all our purchases on it like groceries, gas etc. and pay it off at the end of the month. We have a US Bank Visa Flex Rewards Card, so I know that one works great! But if you prefer a different bank or whatever, go ask. Just make sure you know about any annual fees or loop holes. So if you want to avoid any weird surprises, just get the same kind of card we use and have fun on your trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Free Snowmobiling!

TAKE A FRIEND SNOWMOBILING DAY!
This is an annual event put on by At Your Leisure.

Saturday, January 15th (tomorrow) all day at the Monte Cristo Parking lot near Huntsville, UT.

They will have free food, and free snow mobile rides for everyone who comes! This is an awesome activity for the family if you are looking for something to do outdoors in the winter. So get out of the house, dress warm, and take advantage of free food and snowmobile rides! If you wanted to rent a snowmobile for a day, it would cost close to $200. Of course, you won't get to ride it all day cuz there are other people :) But if you are like me, and never been snow mobiling, this is perfect. I can take a couple of little rides and see if I like it. Then later I can decide if I'd be willing to spend the money to rent one in the future.
